How many Jessicas does it take to write an interesting blog?

O, the woes of a Jessica on the Internet. I love my name, I love how it sounds, and I feel that it suits me. But why, cruel world, must there already be thousands of Jessicas in existence? And probably at least one more is being born right now! I recently made a list of all the bizarre permutations of my name I have used to create usernames and email addresses. I bet the Thaddeus's of the world don't struggle to get past the "Create Username" step as I do.

I have always pressured myself to be original, if nothing else. As Elizabeth rebukes Mr. Darcy, "We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room, and be handed down to posterity with all the eclat of a proverb.'' Having such an overused name feels at odds with my personality, but I love it. And perhaps working to overcome the anonymity of being one in a mob of Jessicas will provoke me to actually achieve originality, instead of just talking about it.
